Once again, Hawaii sets the stage as the ultimate destination for the traditional Japanese relay race, "Honolulu Rainbow Ekiden" in March 2014!
Ekiden, a long distance relay race, was a concept born in Japan over 90 years ago as a sport to unify teams in a competitive environment. In Japan, it is most commonly seen as a college sport where many universities gather for a major race. In recent years Ekiden has gained worldwide attention.
This year, Honolulu plays host to its second annual Ekiden as many gather in the "Navel of the Pacific Ocean" to race down the course features a beautiful oceanic view around Diamond Head as on-lookers wave flags and cheer in support.
